In Memoriam

Lua de Sa e Silva Shaw
1993 - 2008

She loved the snow, she loved the sun, she loved sleeping by the fireplace, and she loved the women of Sand Road (especially Amanda, Kate and Nicole), who were always loving to her.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss, Dan. Lua had such an expressive face and what you've written is beautiful.

Naturally, being me, I'm writing for selfish reasons. I plan to attend a 3-day learning camp at Isabella Freedman latter this month and so have written to Sand Road to inquire about their boarding service for Sidney Greenstreet, my canine roommate. I'm wondering if perhaps you know of a warm and responsible person in Falls Village who board dogs in their home. I was away for three nights lat month and it was wretching for both of us. (Oh Gawd. I've turned into one of those). Isabella doesn't allow dogs. Imagine!

May your memories of Lua and the kindnesses you bestowed on her be a source of comfort to you,

Risa Mandell

Lua was a frequent guest at Sand Road because I have had to travel for work and she considered it a second home. She would be so happy to be there. I think she enjoyd seeing other dogs and having so many human friends there.

Lua was an extraordinary dog and a wonderful spirit. I remember her as an energetic city dweller on 54th street and later as a happy country citizen--first in Kent, then in FV where she was a loving companion and compatriot in your new adventures. She brought happiness to so many people who knew and loved her. She will be missed. What a gorgeous photo. Thank you for your sweet tribute.

Funny you should mention it...There are only 5 people on the planet that can put their hands in my car when Max(100 lb Sheperd)is in it...That would be me..My wife...And Max's three girl friends at Sand Road Spa...Amanda, Kate and Nicole...He goes skitsy with excitement when I turn into the driveway...So you too have enjoyed the comfort of knowing your best friend is going to their favorite camp...Dogs are like kids...They want the next different thing and The Sand Road Spa is the enjoyable next thing...Cheers Chris

I'm sure Lua loved the girls there and I know they really miss her...

Dan,
I am so very sorry for your loss. I lost Rupert earlier this year and I strive every day to be as "good a person" as he was.
I am certain beyond a shadow of a doubt that Lua had a wonderful life here and continues to enjoy her thoughts of you, even as she lives on in your Soul.
